Welcome to AIME. By downloading, installing, creating an account, subscribing to, or using AIME, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.

AIME is a macOS application and service created and maintained by Lax Chee.

If you do not agree with these Terms and Conditions, you should not create an account or use AIME.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an AIME account or using AIME, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time to reflect changes to AIME, our services, third-party services, or applicable legal requirements.

If we make material changes, we may provide notice through the application, website, or other reasonable means.

Your continued use of AIME after updated terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

2. AIME Account

An AIME account is required to use AIME's services.

You are responsible for providing accurate information when creating your account and keeping your account information reasonably up to date.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and authentication credentials.

You must not knowingly share your account credentials or allow unauthorized persons to access your account.

You are responsible for activity occurring through your account, except to the extent applicable law provides otherwise.

If you believe your account has been compromised or accessed without authorization, you should contact us as soon as reasonably possible.

We may suspend or restrict access to an account when reasonably necessary to prevent fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, security threats, or violations of these Terms.

3. AI-Powered Features

AIME uses an AI Agent to rewrite, improve, and translate text.

AI-generated content is provided as an assistance tool.

AI-generated output may contain:

  • Errors
  • Inaccurate information
  • Missing information
  • Fabricated or misleading information
  • Inappropriate content; or
  • Results that do not match your intended meaning

AIME does not guarantee that AI-generated content will always be accurate, complete, appropriate, reliable, or suitable for a particular purpose.

You are responsible for reviewing AI-generated content before using, sharing, publishing, submitting, or relying on it.

You should independently verify AI-generated information before relying on it for legal, medical, financial, employment, academic, professional, or other consequential purposes.

4. Highlighted Text and External AI Processing

AIME is designed to minimize the information transmitted for AI processing.

When you use an AI-powered feature, AIME only sends the text that you explicitly highlight or select, together with the instructions necessary to perform the requested operation.

AIME does not intentionally send unrelated text from other applications, your entire document, or other content on your device unless you explicitly select that content for processing.

The highlighted text is transmitted securely to the external AI processing service used by AIME so that the AI Agent can generate the requested result.

No Storage by AIME

AIME does not store, save, or maintain a database of the highlighted text submitted for AI processing.

The highlighted text is used to make the requested AI processing call and is not intentionally retained by AIME after the request has been processed.

By using AIME's AI-powered features, you acknowledge that the highlighted text must be transmitted to an external AI processing provider in order for the requested feature to work.

AIME does not control the external AI provider's internal systems, security practices, logging, retention policies, or data processing practices.

If an external AI provider independently retains, logs, processes, discloses, or experiences a security incident involving submitted text, such activity occurs within the provider's systems and outside AIME's direct control.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, AIME and Lax Chee are not responsible for such third-party data handling or security incidents, except to the extent responsibility cannot legally be excluded.

5. User Responsibility and Content

You are responsible for all text, instructions, and other information you submit to AIME and for how you use the resulting content.

You represent that you have the necessary rights and permissions to submit the content for processing.

You must not use AIME to create or facilitate content that violates applicable laws or the rights of others.

You agree not to use AIME for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, malicious, or infringing activities.

You are responsible for determining whether your use of AIME is lawful.

6. Confidential Information

AIME is not intended to provide a confidential or privileged communication channel.

You should not submit highly sensitive or confidential information unless you are comfortable with it being processed by external AI infrastructure.

This includes passwords, authentication codes, API keys, private keys, financial credentials, government identification numbers, private medical information, trade secrets, confidential business information, and other sensitive information.

You are responsible for deciding what information you submit to AIME.

7. Ownership of Your Content

You retain ownership of the original content you submit to AIME, subject to rights that may already apply to that content.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you may use AI-generated output for your own purposes.

However, AI-generated content may not always qualify for copyright protection or exclusive ownership under applicable law.

You are responsible for determining whether AI-generated output is suitable for your intended use and whether additional rights, permissions, licenses, or attribution requirements apply.

8. Subscriptions and Payments

AIME is provided through subscription-based plans.

Subscription payments are processed through Stripe.

When purchasing a subscription, you authorize Stripe to process the applicable payment according to the subscription terms presented at the time of purchase.

Subscriptions may automatically renew according to the applicable subscription terms until cancelled.

Subscription prices, plans, billing periods, included features, and other subscription terms may change from time to time.

Any applicable pricing or subscription changes will be communicated through the applicable purchase interface or other reasonable means.

9. Stripe

Stripe is an independent payment service provider.

Stripe may collect and process payment information, billing information, transaction information, and other information necessary to process your subscription.

AIME does not store your complete payment card number, security code, or other full payment credentials.

AIME may receive limited information from Stripe necessary to verify payment and subscription status and associate the subscription with your AIME account.

Stripe operates independently from AIME.

Stripe's systems, security practices, data processing, retention, refunds, and payment procedures are governed by Stripe's own terms and policies.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, AIME and Lax Chee are not responsible for security incidents, unauthorized access, data breaches, payment processing failures, or other events occurring solely within Stripe's systems and outside AIME's reasonable control.

10. Subscription Cancellation and Refunds

You may cancel your subscription according to the subscription management options provided by AIME or the applicable payment interface.

Cancellation generally prevents future renewal but does not necessarily provide a refund for a billing period that has already begun.

Refunds may be provided where required by applicable law or according to the applicable refund policy presented at the time of purchase.

AIME may not be able to issue refunds for transactions that are solely controlled by a third-party payment provider where the provider's procedures apply.

11. Multilingual Features

AIME may rewrite and translate content across multiple languages.

Although AIME is designed to produce natural-sounding output, we do not guarantee perfect accuracy, cultural sensitivity, context, tone, or legal suitability in every language.

You are responsible for reviewing translated and rewritten content before using it.

12. Compatibility and Application Support

AIME is designed to work with macOS applications that support standard text selection and copy-and-paste functionality.

The experience may vary depending on your macOS version, permissions, accessibility settings, keyboard configuration, system settings, and third-party applications.

Some features require an active internet connection.

AIME does not guarantee uninterrupted compatibility with every current or future version of macOS or every third-party application.

13. Personal Preferences and Custom Instructions

AIME may allow you to configure personalized writing preferences and custom instructions.

These features are intended to help the AI Agent better match your preferred writing style and requirements.

AIME does not guarantee that custom instructions or preferences will be followed perfectly in every response.

14. Service Availability and Changes

We may modify, update, suspend, or discontinue any part of AIME at any time.

AI-powered features may depend on third-party services and infrastructure outside our direct control.

We do not guarantee that AIME or any particular feature will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, accurate, or error-free.

Third-party providers may change their services, models, infrastructure, pricing, policies, technical requirements, or availability.

Such changes may affect AIME's functionality.

15. Account Suspension and Termination

You may stop using AIME at any time.

You may also request deletion of your account by contacting laxchee@gmail.com.

We may suspend or terminate access to an account where reasonably necessary, including for:

  • Violation of these Terms
  • Fraud or attempted fraud
  • Unauthorized access
  • Abuse or misuse
  • Security threats
  • Illegal activity; or
  • Conduct that may harm AIME, its infrastructure, or other users

Account termination may result in the loss of access to account settings, preferences, subscription benefits, and other account-associated information.

Account deletion does not necessarily cancel an active subscription. You should cancel your subscription separately through the applicable subscription management process.

16. Data Security and Third-Party Providers

We take reasonable measures to protect information within systems that AIME directly controls.

However, no electronic transmission, software, server, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

AIME relies on third-party providers for certain functions, including AI processing, payment processing, hosting, authentication, security, and other infrastructure.

Each provider is responsible for the security and operation of its own systems.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, AIME and Lax Chee are not responsible for security incidents, data breaches, unauthorized access, service failures, or data handling events occurring solely within third-party systems outside our reasonable control.

This limitation does not exclude responsibility that cannot legally be excluded, including responsibility arising from our own acts or omissions where applicable law imposes such responsibility.

17. Limitation of Liability

AIME is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, AIME and Lax Chee are not responsible for:

  • Incorrect, inaccurate, incomplete, harmful, or inappropriate AI-generated content
  • Decisions made based on AI-generated content
  • Loss of data resulting from your use of the application
  • Unauthorized disclosure or security incidents occurring solely within third-party systems outside our reasonable control
  • Data breaches occurring solely within external AI or payment provider systems
  • Payment processing failures caused by third-party payment providers
  • Interruptions caused by internet connectivity or third-party services
  • Changes to third-party AI services or infrastructure
  • Changes to third-party pricing, models, policies, or availability
  • Compatibility problems caused by macOS updates or third-party software
  • Misuse of AIME
  • Legal, financial, commercial, educational, professional, or personal consequences resulting from use of AI-generated content; or
  • Any other indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages to the extent such limitation is permitted by applicable law

You remain responsible for reviewing AI-generated content and deciding whether and how to use it.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited under applicable law.

18. Indemnification

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to be responsible for claims, losses, liabilities, damages, and reasonable expenses arising from your unlawful use of AIME, your violation of these Terms, your infringement of another person's rights, or content that you submit to AIME where such responsibility is legally applicable.

This provision does not require you to indemnify us for losses caused by our own conduct where applicable law prohibits such a requirement.

19. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Japan, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.

Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms and Conditions or your use of AIME will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Japan, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.
