How To Use

1. Download AIME Rewrite from our website, open the downloaded .dmg file, and install the app. Once installed, open AIME Rewrite to get started.
2. Open the menu bar icon to reveal the popover and settings.
3. Grant Accessibility permission when prompted.
   - Open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, select Accessibility, unlock the pane, and enable Aime Rewrite.
   - This permission allows the app to replace selected text directly inside other applications.

1. Set your personal writing preferences.
   - In Settings, open Personalizations and add short style notes such as preferred tone, level of formality, or example phrases you like.
   - These preferences are saved locally on your Mac and included with every rewrite request.
2. Choose the response language.
   - In Settings, pick a specific language if you want translated output, or choose Auto detect to preserve the original language.
   - Add your preferred languages to your favorites, and they will appear at the top of the list for toggle selection.

1. Select the text you want to change in any macOS app that supports copy and paste.
   - This works in email clients, notes apps, browsers, code editors, and more.
2. Click the Aime Rewrite icon in the menu bar.
3. Choose a tone: Friendly, Polite, or Professional.
4. Aime Rewrite replaces the selected text with the rewritten result automatically.
5. Improve your text by making it shorter and clearer, or if needed, expand on it to add more detail and enhance understanding.
6. Highlight any text and have it read aloud. It is perfect for reviewing emails, catching awkward phrasing, or simply giving your eyes a break.

1. Quit the app.
2. Remove the app from the Applications folder.

Aime Rewrite originated from a need I identified in my work. My responsibilities include developing presentations, creating website content, and preparing reports, where I frequently utilize AI to enhance my writing and convey ideas confidently. The repetitive tasks of copying, pasting, and toggling between applications hindered my efficiency. I sought a more streamlined method to validate my writing directly within the tools I already employed. This need led to the creation of Aime Rewrite.

The name Aime was chosen because I required an AI version of myself to assist with writing.

Aime Rewrite has evolved from a personal solution into a tool that I aspire will provide the same clarity and efficiency to others who engage in daily writing.

1. What is AIME Rewrite?

   AIME is a macOS AI writing assistant that helps you rewrite, improve, and translate text directly in the apps you already use.

2. How does AIME Rewrite work?

   Highlight the text you want to rewrite, click the AIME icon, choose your preferred style or instruction, and AIME will generate an improved version for you.

3. Do I need an API key or another AI subscription?

   No. You don't need to provide an API key or maintain a separate AI subscription. AIME provides the AI service as part of your AIME subscription.

4. How do I install AIME?

   Download AIME Rewrite from our website, open the downloaded .dmg file, install the app, and launch AIME. Then sign in or create your AIME account to get started.

5. Does AIME store my highlighted text?

   No. AIME does not store or maintain a database of the text you highlight and submit for rewriting. The selected text is sent for AI processing and is not intentionally retained by AIME.

6. Is my data private?

   AIME is designed with privacy in mind. We only send the text you explicitly select for AI processing, and AIME does not intentionally store your highlighted text. External AI and payment providers may process information within their own systems according to their own policies.

7. Does AIME sell my data?

   No. AIME does not sell your personal information or your submitted text.

8. How do I cancel my subscription?

   You can manage and cancel your AIME subscription yourself from your account. Cancelling your subscription stops future renewals, but you can continue using AIME and your subscription benefits until the end of your current billing period.

9. What happens when my subscription ends?

   When your subscription period ends, your access to paid AIME features will expire unless you renew your subscription. Your account will remain available unless you choose to delete it.

10. Should I use AIME with sensitive information?

    We recommend avoiding passwords, API keys, financial information, medical information, confidential business information, or other highly sensitive data. Any text you select for AI processing is transmitted to an external AI service.
