Thank you for using AIME. This Privacy Policy explains how the app handles information and how your data is protected. The goal is to be transparent, easy to understand, and respectful of the trust you place in this tool.

1. About AIME

AIME is a macOS application that enhances and rewrites text using the OpenAI API. It works entirely on your device and does not require an account or login. AIME does not run its own servers and does not collect analytics or track how you use the app.

All features are designed to keep your workflow private, fast, and fully under your control.

2. Information AIME Does Not Collect

AIME does not collect, store, or transmit personal data. The app does not use analytics, cookies, telemetry, or background logging. It does not gather device identifiers, usage patterns, or location data.

Anything you type, select, or rewrite stays on your device except when it is sent directly to OpenAI solely for the purpose of generating an improved version of your text.

3. Information AIME Processes

AIME handles only the information required to perform rewriting tasks. This happens locally on your device. The following details explain how the app interacts with your content:

Text you rewrite

Your selected text is sent securely to the OpenAI API so it can produce rewritten output. AIME does not store this text anywhere. It is discarded once the result is returned.

API key

Your OpenAI API key is stored only on your device inside the macOS Keychain. This storage is encrypted and handled by Apple. Your key is never sent to any AIME server because there are no AIME servers. It is never shared and never uploaded anywhere except the official OpenAI endpoint you authorize.

Personalization settings

Any writing preferences you set inside the app are stored locally on your device. They are not transmitted off the device or synced through iCloud.

4. iCloud and external syncing

AIME does not use iCloud, external storage, cloud syncing, or any background data transfer beyond the OpenAI request that the app sends on your behalf.

5. Connection to OpenAI

AIME uses the OpenAI Chat Completions API to process rewriting requests. This interaction uses secure HTTPS with App Transport Security enforced.

OpenAI may temporarily retain logs of your requests for up to thirty days to monitor for abuse as described in its own policy. AIME has no control over OpenAI data practices and encourages you to review OpenAI’s terms for the latest details.

6. Sensitive information

AIME is not designed for handling sensitive personal data. You should avoid submitting financial details, identification numbers, private medical information, or any confidential corporate content. Anything you send to OpenAI becomes subject to its retention practices.

7. Payments and refunds

AIME processes no payments and stores no financial information. All purchases and refunds are handled directly by the Apple App Store.

Any changes to OpenAI subscription fees, API pricing, or billing policies have no connection to AIME. The app has no influence over these charges and does not collect subscription revenue tied to OpenAI services.

8. App Store crash reports

If the app fails or macOS detects an error, Apple may generate a crash report that includes device metadata and diagnostic information. These reports are managed entirely by Apple. AIME does not receive or collect them.

9. Age restrictions

AIME is intended for users who are eighteen or older. It is not designed for children and should not be used by minors due to the nature of AI-generated content.

10. Legal jurisdiction

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Japan. Any disputes related to the use of AIME will fall under the jurisdiction of Japanese courts.

11. Updates to this policy

AIME may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to comply with new legal requirements or changes introduced by Apple or OpenAI. Using the app after an update means you accept the latest version of the policy.
