Thank you for using AIME. This Privacy Policy explains how AIME handles information, how your data is used, and the steps we take to protect information within systems that we control.

AIME is created and maintained by Lax Chee.

We aim to keep this Privacy Policy clear and easy to understand. By using AIME, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. About AIME

AIME is a macOS application that helps you rewrite, improve, and translate text using an AI Agent.

AIME requires an account to access its services and subscription features.

AIME does not operate an advertising network and does not sell your personal information.

AIME is designed to minimize the information it processes and to send only the information necessary to provide its features.

2. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use AIME, we may process the following categories of information.

Account Information

When you create an AIME account, we may collect:

  • Email address
  • Account identifier
  • Authentication and account security information
  • Account creation date; and
  • Account status

We use this information to create and maintain your account, authenticate access, provide customer support, maintain service security, and provide AIME's features.

Subscription Information

If you subscribe to a paid AIME plan, we may process information necessary to manage your subscription, including:

  • Subscription plan
  • Subscription status
  • Subscription start and expiration dates
  • Transaction or subscription identifiers; and
  • Account entitlement information

Payment card details are handled by our payment provider and are not stored directly by AIME.

Technical and Security Information

To operate and secure AIME, our systems may process limited technical information such as:

  • IP address
  • Authentication events
  • Account activity necessary for security
  • Request timestamps
  • Service logs
  • Error information; and
  • Information necessary to detect abuse, fraud, or unauthorized access

We use this information primarily for operating, securing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the service.

3. Highlighted Text and AI Processing

AIME is designed to minimize the amount of information sent for AI processing.

When you use an AI-powered feature, AIME only sends the text that you explicitly highlight or select, together with the instructions necessary to perform the requested operation.

AIME does not intentionally send unrelated text from other applications, your entire document, or other content on your device unless you explicitly select that content for processing.

The highlighted text and relevant instructions are transmitted securely to the external AI processing service used by AIME so that the AI Agent can generate the requested result.

AIME Does Not Store Your Highlighted Text

AIME does not store, save, or maintain a database of the highlighted text you submit for rewriting, translation, or other AI processing.

The highlighted text is used to make the requested AI processing call and is not intentionally retained by AIME after the request has been processed.

AIME does not intentionally use your highlighted text for advertising, behavioral profiling, or unrelated purposes.

However, once the highlighted text is transmitted to an external AI processing provider, it is processed by that provider's infrastructure. The provider may temporarily process, log, retain, or otherwise handle the request according to its own applicable policies and practices.

AIME does not control the internal data retention, security, or processing practices of the external AI provider.

4. How We Use Information

We may use information to:

  • Create and manage AIME accounts
  • Authenticate users
  • Provide AI-powered features
  • Process and verify subscriptions
  • Provide customer support
  • Maintain account and service security
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
  • Troubleshoot technical problems
  • Maintain and improve the reliability of AIME
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations; and
  • Communicate important account, security, subscription, or service information

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not use submitted highlighted text for advertising or behavioral advertising profiles.

5. AI Processing and Third-Party Services

AIME uses external AI processing infrastructure to provide its AI-powered features.

When you use an AI-powered feature, the highlighted text and relevant instructions may leave your device and be transmitted to the external AI processing service.

The external AI provider is an independent service provider. AIME does not control its internal systems, security practices, data retention policies, or processing practices.

Third-party AI providers may temporarily process, log, retain, or otherwise handle requests according to their own applicable policies and practices.

AIME may change the AI processing provider or infrastructure used to provide its services as AIME evolves.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, AIME and Lax Chee are not responsible for security incidents, unauthorized access, data breaches, retention practices, or other data handling events occurring solely within an external AI provider's systems and outside AIME's reasonable control.

This does not exclude responsibility that cannot legally be excluded.

6. Payment Processing by Stripe

AIME uses Stripe to process subscription payments.

When you subscribe to AIME, payment information is submitted to Stripe for payment processing.

Stripe may process information including payment details, billing information, transaction information, and information necessary to provide payment and subscription services.

AIME does not store your complete credit card number, card security code, or other full payment credentials.

AIME may receive limited information from Stripe, such as:

  • Payment status
  • Subscription status
  • Customer or subscription identifiers
  • Transaction identifiers; and
  • Information necessary to associate your subscription with your AIME account

Stripe operates independently from AIME. Stripe's handling of payment and personal information is governed by Stripe's own terms, privacy policy, security practices, and retention policies.

AIME does not control Stripe's internal systems.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, AIME and Lax Chee are not responsible for security incidents, unauthorized access, data breaches, or other events occurring solely within Stripe's systems and outside AIME's reasonable control.

7. Third-Party Service Providers

AIME may rely on third-party providers to operate certain parts of the service, including:

  • AI processing
  • Payment processing
  • Hosting and infrastructure
  • Authentication
  • Email delivery
  • Security and fraud prevention
  • Error monitoring; and
  • Other services necessary to operate AIME

These providers may process information necessary to provide their services.

Each third-party provider is responsible for its own systems, security practices, data handling, and compliance obligations.

AIME does not control the internal systems of third-party providers.

8. Data Security

AIME takes reasonable measures to protect information within systems under our control.

Communications between AIME and our services are transmitted using encrypted HTTPS connections.

We may use access controls, authentication mechanisms, security monitoring, and other reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect account information and our systems.

However, no internet transmission, software application, server, or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

AIME cannot guarantee that information transmitted over the internet will never be intercepted, accessed, altered, disclosed, lost, or destroyed.

9. Third-Party Security Incidents

AIME depends on third-party services for certain functions, including AI processing and payment processing.

If a third-party provider experiences a security incident, data breach, unauthorized access event, service failure, or other security issue within systems controlled by that provider, AIME does not control that provider's systems and cannot guarantee the provider's security.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, AIME and Lax Chee are not responsible for security incidents or data breaches occurring solely within the systems of third-party providers and outside AIME's reasonable control.

This does not limit any responsibility AIME may have under applicable law for systems or security measures that AIME directly controls.

10. Sensitive and Confidential Information

AIME is not intended to be a confidential or privileged communication channel.

You should carefully consider whether information is appropriate to submit for AI processing.

You should avoid highlighting or submitting sensitive or confidential information, including:

  • Passwords
  • Authentication codes
  • API keys
  • Private keys
  • Credit card information
  • Bank account information
  • Government identification numbers
  • Private medical information
  • Trade secrets
  • Confidential business information
  • Information subject to a confidentiality obligation; or
  • Any other highly sensitive information

You are responsible for determining whether content is appropriate to submit for AI processing.

11. Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your AIME account and authentication credentials.

You must not knowingly share your account credentials or allow unauthorized individuals to access your account.

If you believe your account has been compromised, you should contact us as soon as reasonably possible.

AIME may suspend or restrict an account when reasonably necessary to protect the service, prevent fraud, investigate abuse, or prevent unauthorized access.

12. Personalization and Preferences

AIME may allow you to configure writing preferences and custom instructions.

Depending on the features you use, these preferences may be associated with your AIME account so they can be used to provide personalized functionality.

These preferences are not used for advertising or behavioral advertising profiles.

13. Data Retention

We retain account and subscription information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide AIME, manage accounts, process subscriptions, provide support, prevent fraud and abuse, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

AIME does not intentionally maintain a permanent database of highlighted text or AI-generated rewriting content.

Information processed by external AI providers may be retained according to their own policies.

Payment and transaction information processed by Stripe may be retained according to Stripe's policies and applicable legal requirements.

14. Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your AIME account by contacting:

When an account is deleted, we will take reasonable steps to delete or anonymize personal information associated with the account, subject to information we are required or permitted to retain for legal, security, fraud prevention, accounting, dispute resolution, or other legitimate purposes.

Deleting your AIME account may result in the loss of access to your account, preferences, subscription benefits, and other account-associated information.

Deleting your AIME account does not necessarily cancel an active subscription. You should cancel your subscription separately before requesting account deletion.

Information held by third-party providers, including Stripe and AI processing providers, may be subject to their own deletion and retention policies.

15. Device and iCloud Data

AIME does not use iCloud to synchronize your highlighted text, AI requests, or writing content.

AIME does not intentionally collect your device location, browsing history, or unrelated application activity.

16. Crash Reports

If AIME crashes or macOS detects an error, macOS or Apple may generate diagnostic or crash information.

Such information is managed through Apple's systems and may be subject to Apple's own policies.

AIME does not intentionally use crash information for advertising or behavioral profiling.

17. Your Rights

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights relating to your personal information, including rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or otherwise control certain information.

18. Children

AIME is intended for users aged eighteen or older.

AIME is not designed for children and should not be used by minors.

19. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to AIME, our services, third-party providers, or applicable laws.

The latest version will be made available through the application or our website.

Your continued use of AIME after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective constitutes acknowledgment of the updated policy.

20. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Japan.

Any disputes relating to this Privacy Policy or the handling of information through AIME will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Japan, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
